Abstract |
Ants dominate in terms of abundance and ecological significance the leaf-litter fauna of tropical rain forests. Interestingly, the ant fauna of the Congo-Guinean rain forests remained poorly understood and little described. Using a large sampling effort and both morphological and genetic tools we conduct the hitherto most comprehensive study to document the ant fauna of a Congo-Guinean rain forest, the Kakamega Forest in western Kenya.
