Weather data
A large number of automatic weather stations has been implemented in the frame of the BIOTA AFRICA project by the Namibian National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) and the Group "Biodiversity, Evolution and Ecology" (BEE) of the University of Hamburg. The website offers hourly updates of data and graphs of a large number of weather parameters.

WP5: Installation of an Ecological Laboratory for biodiversity research

Project leader(s)

Dr. Winfred Musila

Project description

Despite the important role NMK plays in providing ecological information to support conservation initiatives, currently there is no laboratory where basic ecological analysis can be done. Laboratory costs are high and this prohibits most ecologists to do qualitative ecological research in Kenya. A basic ecological laboratory is hence necessary. Installation of an ecological laboratory at NMK to gradually take over and continue long-term ecological research in Kenya (Exit Strategy) is planned.
